Tag someone in order comments

I love the Order Timeline feature in Shopify because it makes the history of an order so easy to understand.

Did the payment get captured? Did the download email go out?

Scroll down to the bottom of the order to see the order history, like this screenshot from my test store:

You can even enter your own custom comments in there, using the text box. For my store we love to use these comments to keep each other updated on details of an order or conversations we’ve had with customers.

The best part of this feature is the ability to tag another staff member in your comment, like this:

If you tag someone in the timeline, Shopify sends an email notification to that person with the comment inside, and a link back to the order:

So simple, so smooth!

There’s also a handy display in the orders list to let you know that there are timeline comments on an order:

Now that we know about this feature, we have cut down on a lot of back-and-forth communication through other channels like chat/email/text message.

The best part is the entire conversation is attached to the order it relates to.
